Mary's usual English form, the Latin form of the Greek names in the New Testament Μρμμμ Mar Mar Mar Mar Will. The meaning is not known for sure, but there are a number of theories including "bitter sea", "rebellion" and "desire for children".

However, most likely it was originally an Egyptian name, probably derived in part from "love" or mr "love". These are the names of some characters in the New Testament, the most important being that Mary is the mother of Jesus.

According to the gospels, Jesus was conceived in her by the Holy Spirit while she remained a virgin. This name was also born by Mary Magdalene, a woman cured by demons by Jesus. She became one of his followers and later witnessed his crucifixion and resurrection.
