Located on the highest hill next to Verona and with a stunning view of the city, you will find Santuario della Madonna di, Lourdes. This sanctuary is a conversion from a fortress, as it was previously used by the Austrian Empire. Now you will find nuns and pilgrims here, and you need to respect the atmosphere and the visiting hours. You can walk or take your car till the entrance of the fortress and have a walk to the blue-domed church. 8. Visit the ancient Church of Sante Teuteria e Tosca
Right in the middle of the city and next to the infamous Verona Arena you will find a church that was built during the first millennia, Church of the Saints Teuteria and Tosca. The legend talks about two virgins Teuteria and Tusca (or Tosca) that were entrapped in a cave in order to be protected and later they were buried in this church. The church has survived until today, and even though it has had various modifications along the years, you may clearly view the architectural elements from its first form. 9. The mystery of Arco della Costa
Right between the Domus Nova (house of judges) and the Palazzo della Ragione (the court) you may find the infamous Arco della Costa, which literally means the ‘whale rib arch’. In the Venetian period and afterward, this arch was used by the judges to pass from the one building to the other while avoiding the crowd. The legend says that in the arch there is a rib bone from a whale that was brought back to Verona by the crusaders. But there are other stories about mythical creatures that lived in the region or even a fake name given to draw attention to the street’s market and stores.
