1. Cleopatra’s Beach

Possibly the most beautiful coastline in the area, Cleopatra Beach, is located about 14km northwest of Marsa Matruh around the tentacle tentacles of the thin land. The sea here is an exquisite hue, and the rock formations are worth a look.

You can wade to Cleopatra hot tub, a natural pool where the legend imagines the queen and Mark Antony are taking a dip, but you really can't swim because of the waves and rocks off the coast.

2. Agiba Beach

It was packed in the summer and was almost empty for the rest of the year. Note that it isn’t ideal for toddlers, as the waves roll in strongly. Microbuses to Agiba leave before the Egyptian National Bank.

3. Rommel's Beach

Just before the beach is the cave system where Colonel Rommel planned the Axis forces' military operations during WWII. The cave is now home to the Rommel Cave Museum.

4. Abdu Kofta

Locals swear that this is the best restaurant in town. In a clean and cool 1st-floor room, it serves kofta (mincemeat and spices grilled on a skewer) or grilled meat by the weight, served with good mezze and salads.

In summer, boats (LE5) shuttle back and forth from the Lido beach across the bay. Taxis charge about LE30 to LE40 each way.

Right in front of Rommel's beach was the cave system where Colonel Rommel planned the Axis operations during World War II. The cave currently has a small, recently restored museum, showing some of Rommel's individual effects and the maps he draws here.
