Reggio Calabria is the most populated commune of Calabria in Southern Italy.
It is also the largest city of the commune. The city is located at the toe of the boot-like Italian Peninsula. This quaint city is separated from the island of Sicily by the Strait of Messina and sits by the majestic slopes of the Aspromonte.

1. Have dessert by the sea at Gelateria Matteotti

2. Take a midnight stroll on the Lungomare Falcomata
The Lungomare Falcomata is a beautiful beachfront, dedicated to the protagonist of Primavera di Reggio, Italo Falcomata. It stretches for 1.7 kilometers (1.1 miles) long and has a magnificent view of the beach. It is, in fact, just by the beach of Reggio Calabria. There are a lot of places to sit and watch the waves here. The ambiance and the cool breeze are sure to make a midnight stroll along the Lungomare Flacomata a pleasant one.
3. Go to Punta del Faro
Punta del Faro is a nature reserve by the beach. It features a magnificent view of the beach and a lighthouse. It is located just off the coast of Sicily— just a boat ride away from Reggio di Calabria via the Messina Strait. The Capo Peloro Lighthouse is visible on the shores of Reggio Calabria. As with all the sights in Reggio Calabria, this nature reserve, which was previously a fort, mixes the beauty of the blue Italian water with the magnificence of the night sky. This fort and nature reserve is both very historical and magnificent.

5. Have a night-picnic by the Parco Ecolandia
Parco Ecolandia is one of the parks around Reggio Calabria. It is also the usual venue for art festivals and the pop art and street culture of the city can be seen here, on the regular. Live bands and artists are usually seen in the park, playing and interacting with people. The annual FACE Festival is also regularly held in Parco Ecolandia. The Parco Ecolandia is a frequent hang out of the locals in Reggio Calabria— making it a good spot for tourists and locals to mingle and have fun together.
6. Visit the Planetario Provinciale di Reggio Calabria
Also called the Planetario Provinciale Pythagoras, this museum opened in 2004 and is open from 9 am to 11 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. The museum is located in the heart of the city and the glass-like dome that caps the modern structure reflects the beauty of the small and historic Reggio Calabria. Inside the dome, spectacles of galaxies and stars are sure to amaze its visitors and there are several shows and exhibits regularly shown, as well as special exhibits, showcased annually.
7. Visit Bar Pirrello
The nightlife in Reggio Calabria is vibrant. There are several bars in the city, most notable is Bar Pirrello. Not just for beer and wine, they carry a selection of sweet and delicious desserts— from cakes to ice cream and everything in between.
8. Take a night walk by the Brancaleone Marina
Brancaleone is a commune in Reggio Calabria, located in the southeastern region of the commune. The famed Italian poet Cesare Pavese was exiled in Brancaleone, in 1935 and parts of his novel The Moon and the Bonfires refer to the time he spent here. Brancaleone Marina features the beautiful shore and beachfront and overlooks the serene Italian water. At night, the beautiful water reflects the beauty of the night sky, making for a magnificent walk along the green of the land and the blue of the water.
