Avellino [avelˈliːno] listens as a town and comedy,
the capital of the province of Avellino in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is situated in a plain surrounded by mountains 50 kilometers (31 mi) northeast of Naples and is an important hub on the road from Salerno to Benevento.

1. Monte Terminio
We stayed at this place only a few hours for a family meal but it is worth saying that it is a wonderful place, very close to the city, and for this reason, very easy to reach at any free time to spend some hour relaxed in contact with nature.
2. Country Sport Avellino
Well, this is just great if you don't have a pool. We were on holiday in the area and this pool is wonderful especially if you have children. It is large and has several pools. This year they have added an upgraded area where sunbeds are more comfortable and pagodas are available to provide shade.
Arrive early to get a good place as it is very busy. Look out for special offers.
3. Santuario Di Montevergine
Whilst visiting family in Napoli we decided to visit this breathtaking sanctuary. The drive up a long swerving road with the towering chestnut trees alongside the road was a delight. We have reached the top of montevergine and Avellino's view below is Breathtaking.
The giant church/cathedral only makes me choke. When my uncle told me about the history of the Holy Land & how my ancestors used to go up or take horse-drawn horses to this spiritual place, I immediately felt strong respect and spiritual connection with this place.
Madonna's painting amazes me to see a man who can create such beauty on a pine board.
4. Azienda Vinicola Feudi Di San Gregorio
The modern style winery? It is, moreover - built by a Japanese architect. Stylish space, very unusual basement without side walls but pillars. Taurasi and Piano di Montevergine Taurasi is very interesting (both - Aglianico).
But most important - they are very friendly. It was a pleasure to talk to Carmela. Thanks for your openness and hospitality!
5. Tasting Campania Day Tours
Extremely informative, organized and well worth the money. Charming Giuseppe is an extremely well-informed tour guide. His passion for his work and knowledge about a number of topics is clearly evident throughout the experience.
In spite of the downpour, the day was a truly memorable authentic experience. We would like to thank the truffle hunter and his wonderful dogs, Argo & Fabbo. The hunt is followed by a great lunch at a world-class restaurant, La Corte dei Filangieri in Candida Avellino.
6. Santuario Di Montevergine
I didn't like it because it was all "new". However, the location where it is located is really spectacular: the funnel connecting it to Mercogliano in just a few minutes is convenient.
7. Torre Dell'orologio
Avellino is such a beautiful town, a clean & friendly town. However, So much gypsy asking for money while we are trying to enjoy our meals.
8. Duomo Di Avellino
It was a friendly church. The overlay is typical of the area. Mesner was very friendly and wanted to show us the password immediately.
9. Pasticceria Cose Da-Mat
During the week, I tried two types of sweets: one with lemon cream and the other with a creamy taste that looks like marshmallows (see photo). For both filling is very good: delicate taste and quality raw material. What I didn't like was that the basics were pretty dry. The product is very fresh.
10. Santuario Santa Filomena
The sanctuary is located in a very small town about 1/2 hour outside of Naples. We took a taxi to get there so we wouldn't get lost. It was worth every penny of the trip. Our taxi driver - who had never been to the sanctuary - also paid a visit inside the church when he dropped us off - and expressed his admiration for the beauty of the shrine.
We made arrangements to stay at the monastery located in the same building as the church prior to our trip. The staff was very helpful in providing us with directions and information concerning our stay. The stay includes meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We ate dinner and breakfast during our stay. They were very hospitable and provided excellent service. For dinner, we had homemade pasta with meat sauce, big crusty rolls, wilted salad with butter (yummy), a chicken cutlet, fruit, and water.
Breakfast consisted of homemade rolls, butter, jam, ham, provolone cheese, coffee, tea, and milk. It houses the first - and oldest - the statue of St. Philomena which was ever created.
The hallways leading to the monastery, gift shop, and rectory are abundant with images and statues of St. Philomena which I have never seen before. There is a very large statue of the saint located on a wall near the staircase which leads to the monastery.
She is literally the first and last thing you see as you climb the stairs. The statue is gorgeous. He gave us a tour of the church and also gave us a special blessing when we departed from the sanctuary.
When we arrived on Sunday afternoon, there were several townspeople outside near the church playing cards and socializing. I got the feeling that this is a regular activity in town - just like you'd see in Mayberry on the old Television show.
As we left on Monday morning, we -along with many townspeople who gathered in the street - witnessed the beginning of a wedding taking place at the sanctuary. I thought it was wonderful how people came out of their homes as if wishing the bride and groom luck and support for their upcoming nuptials.
