Here are the best cheap hotels in Kyoto!
[toc]
1. Kyoto Hana Hotel
Close to Gion and other attractions. The room is spotless, doesn't have much visibility. Great staff. We will happily stay. Attractions in Kyoto. There are hundreds of cafes and restaurants in this area.
2. Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae
Good service. Friendly employee. I have to mention two very hard double room chairs with no back support. Would you consider replacing these chairs, if possible? Washing machines and tumble dryers are helpful if the guest stays a long time.
3. Hotel Vista Premio Kyoto
This hotel is truly a great place, with Pontocho Alley nearby and great shopping around the corner! This is the third Vista Premio hotel we stayed on our trip to Japan and our rooms are very similar to others.
They are very small by British standards and really do not have storage. But you have a fridge and bathroom appliances are fantastic; The bed is also comfortable. The staff we met were all very friendly and helpful and we were able to leave the suitcase at lunchtime before checking that afternoon, which was very helpful.
Breakfast has some very interesting options but actually has very little appeal to Western tastes, even without fruit juice, which is a real shame since this is the only hotel they have. I stayed in there had very few choices for non-Asian breakfast options. I really like Japanese food but not too much for breakfast!
4. UNIZO INN Kyoto Kawaramachi Shijo
This business hotel has more comfortable rooms than other competing small guest chains for solo or budget travelers - small but very new rooms and organized in a way that you don't feel cramped. The staff though not very nice, seem quite stressed and very harsh about hotel rules - can be a little warmer and laugh a little more.
But this is usually what you get from the people of Kyoto. Overall the price is reasonable, the location is very central, the rooms are clean and the hotel is brand new. Recommended!
5. Gosho Nishi Kyoto Heian Hotel
We stayed for 5 nights so to see in the Kyoto area. A wonderful English-speaking woman checked us out and thanked us for so long. Very comfortable room overlooking the garden. Laundromat on our floor also has some vending machines and free WiFi. We had dinner there the first night, a very nice meal.
6. Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto-Hachijoguchi
Great location near the train and bus stations in Kyoto to visit attractions and great value for your money!
7. Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma
Not impressed with the check-in. I asked when is the earliest to check-in, the front desk staff said 2 pm (as stated on the booking receipt). My second question to the staff was whether there’s a business center in the hotel which I can use.
The answer is a terse “no”. Then I asked if there was a restaurant or cafe in the hotel, again there was no other food and then said there were some nearby. It is just appalling to see this kind of service here. I have had a better experience when I stayed at their Himeji branch.
I guess am not sure if their Hotel Manager is not reading this. But I hope the readers out there will make a more informed decision when they book this hotel.
Because they have very limited check-in time, my advice is that if you come to town early, take a little extra to book an extra night so you have a room available or staying in a capsule hotel for a few hours to counter that jet delay.
The room has an area of 18m square which is reasonable for a standard double, good enough for one person and I guarantee you can open a flat suitcase on the floor. It’s clean and full bathroom amenities equipped except for a shower cap. Please bring your own if you need it. Drip coffee bags are given to you at the reception when you arrive.
The location is within a minute walk to the Shijo subway station. There isn’t a lift or elevator at that exit, you will have to drag your luggage up for at least 2 flights of staircases if you plan to use the subway to the hotel. Hailing a cab from Kyoto could be a better option if you have a large piece of luggage and it is only 780 yen.
15 minutes walk to Daimaru or Nishiki Market.
8. Aranvert Hotel Kyoto
There are many good-value hotels, unique hotels, and luxury hotels in KYOTO. I can say this is the best as an overall evaluation.
Locate a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station, their own parking lot in the building, a great view of the Kyoto Tower from the rooms, very reasonably priced, and large public baths on the top floor, and the breakfast is meticulously prepared, and even the room and the bathroom are as big as a luxury hotel.
If you book a dinky hotel around KYOTO station, you gotta think about this hotel.
Deluxe double room is a great to view but a very reasonable price. Better to consider if you think about Okura or Nikko princess, this hotel should be on your list.
9. Eco and Tec Kyoto
I stay at Eco + Tech every time I travel to Kyoto, which is every couple of years. Friendly staff, clean and comfy, and perfectly located! Free massage chairs are a huge bonus!
We also appreciate having access to kitchenettes and laundry 24/7.
10. Kyoto Itoya Hotel
We really enjoyed our stay here. The room is smartly decorated and the size is really good. The staff is friendly, efficient and very helpful. We had breakfast so I could comment other than saying it was quite expensive and there were cheaper options from the hotel.
We made day trips to Hiroshima and Nara from Kyoto that I recommend. The train station has a lot of food options if you want to eat breakfast there.
