1. Trumbull and Porter - Detroit Downtown Ascend Hotel Collection
I was in Detroit one night to see the world's greatest band, The Armed and needed a place to sleep at the last minute. T&P just got down the street. It was a great hotel! It's all local art, it has good food, and it's quite quiet/low key.
My room was totally clean and made up. No issues there at all. The staff was polite and helpful in regards to helping me get around. The hotel type also has a vibe dorm with it, with a common area at the back with a fire pit and games.
I was only there for one night, but I was surprised.
2. The Kensington Hotel
Clean rooms and super comfortable King bed. Excellent and quick service from staff. The large flat screen tv had a nice HD picture and good channel line-up. Easy to access from the interstate. Great value for the price.
3. Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Downtown
What an incredible hotel! The service started at the service desk is fantastic! The women at the desk are friendly, polite and caring! The smiles on the desks of women at the desk are very contagious!
The rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Our room overlooked the Detroit River, Belle Isle, and Canada. The bed was extremely comfortable. Televisions have lots of channels to surf, and refrigerators and microwaves are an advantage.
The housekeeper forgot to fill the container for coffee, and only left two towels. Immediately we notified the front desk, who immediately sent up both items. The hotel has two restaurants in the lobby an IHOP ( breakfast) and an Applebee’s.
Applebee’s has a bar, which was quite crowded when we arrived. The drinks were inexpensive and very good. The female bartender was extremely friendly and attentive.
The parking on site is valet and will cost $33.00 a night.
There isn’t a self-parking lot near the hotel. Wonderful hotel!
4. North Star Hotel - Pictured Rocks
This hotel was once very clean. Comfortable bed. It is very close to Munising and activities. It is also very quiet and has no pets. The breakfast area is very clean but the food has nothing to brag about! The reception is very welcome!
5. Drury Inn & Suites Grand Rapids
Free breakfast and dinner. We had the taco bar which is really pretty good. Very good appointment. Unless towels and clothes are washed on the floor they are not taken and replaced. Don't leave a washcloth in the bathtub because it will remain there.
6. Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel
Biggest waterfall ib the east coast... and the food was good too. We found to travel in the area to a Shakespearean Play, to a cavern, to Monticello, and to the Appelacian Trail a variety worth the trip.
7. Roberts Riverwalk Hotel
First off we walked into 15 people waiting, one gentleman doing his best.
1. A duty person must escort every customer to the room every time a customer leaves their room, you have to wait in the lobby for him to let you in, without a key.
2. The room has no controls. and not available
3. It was my memory and we paid for a room overlooking the river, I felt like I was robbed because I paid for a service I had never received, the room was not ready and we were by the boiler.
4. Then we woke up no breakfast, worst than a $25 short stay.
