1. Chom View Hotel
Original hotel with normal rooms a few minutes from the beach. Go for the ocean view if you can. Breakfast was ok but not outstanding. The room is a bit Spartan but comfortable. The internet is a bit dodgy.
2. Koh Kood Beach Resort
We spent 4 wonderful nights here and had the most amazing time.
The Resort is set in lovely well-kept grounds with lots of space. We stayed in a Bali hut which had a large bed and a sofa bed, tv, a/c and fan, very well-stocked mini bar fridge, and areas for suitcases with a big mirror and electric socket with a hairdryer.
Out the back is an outdoor area which is mainly covered by a roof, completely private, with shower, toilet and washbasin which is also very spacious.
The swimming pool is a good temperature and has a relaxed atmosphere with loungers. The beach also has loungers and deckchairs and a volleyball court. You can borrow a snorkel and within a few steps of the shore, you are able to see incredible tropical fish. They are just there!!
The sunsets are stunning too.
The food is great- breakfast had a choice of cheeses, an egg chef, a choice of bread including homemade, bacon, yoghurts and fruit, pancakes and Thai options. There is help yourself tea and coffee all day which is a nice touch.
We ate lunch and dinner here most days and tried many things from the menu. All of it was delicious! Massaman curry with roti bread was lovely, beef Penang was amazing, and pork pad ka prow to name a few.
We also had club sandwiches for lunch one day and they were huge with tasty chips. They have a garden where much of the products are grown on-site which means it is very fresh. Perhaps our favourite meal was a BBQ night where we had a whole white snapper cooked with Thai spices. Wow!
We hired mopeds one day and explores some of the islands including a nearby waterfall and a fishing village. We also spent a fun few hours on a yacht snorkelling trip run by the hotel.
Fish were exciting, lunch was yummy, and it was good to see some other parts of this beautiful island. We also had a massage each, which takes place in a small hut overlooking the beach, with a fan to keep you cool. Bliss!
The factor that really makes this place special is the staff. They were so kind, fun and caring. They remembered things such as what we usually ordered to drink, our names, joined in beach volleyball and made us feel so very welcome.l
Koh Kood has a policy of no loudspeaker music after 10 pm. So if you want wild parties, this will probably not be for you. But for a relaxed, fun and hospitable stay, you may not beat KKBR!
We cannot wait to come back!
3. Plubpla Koh Mak Retreat
We had a wonderful time at Plubpla Retreat! The service is wonderful and impressive. The man who works at the front desk is very helpful and speaks excellent English. Some great points:
- Free taxi from the pier to the hotel
- You can rent a scooter from the hotel (300 baht)
- They will do laundry for you
- The hotel will book tours and transport to other islands
4. Areca Lodge
Stayed Dec had two executive rooms in Areca building, they have been renovated and look amazing, view over the first pool. Quiet pool. I really enjoy breakfast here, it’s relaxing & plenty of choices. Staff always topping coffee cup up.
Bar out front is great on an evening for people watching & watching the world go by. Big comfy seats & table service. Great location to everything, short walk to beach/malls/bars/markets.
Always enjoy our stay here it’s very familiar & the staff is great. I always sign up for an Ace membership on their site that you pay on arrival, the room rates are much cheaper and 15% off for food & soft drinks.
5. Coconut Beach Resort
I just could not say enough good things about this hotel. Right from the time, we stepped in we were upgraded to a nicer room. The price was incredibly cheap/good value. I see a lot of comments saying that the hotel is older and you can say that in a way, but everything is in the best condition, super clean and while it's not a garish place.
Yes, it is very beautiful. The hotel is located right on the beach, ideal for children and families. The beach itself has very nice and shady trees, children can play on the beach near the water in the shade.
The water is not too deep without going out about 20 meters so ideal for kids. Very calm. Ideal setting. Two beautiful clean pools, one near the beach. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The bathroom is nice. Balcony. Breakfast lovely.
The hotel restaurant was a big surprise. Food and drinks are really beautiful and the price is very very reasonable, cheaper than restaurants outside and right on the beach. The staff is a pleasure.
Always fun and happy. Easy parking. The location is excellent. 7 eleven, pharmacies, restaurants, street food right ahead. I really do not need to leave the resort. One of the best holidays we've ever had.
